and went again into the Praetorium, and said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You? John 19:9-10 NKJV
Here we see a normal human beings reaction & behaviour. Pilate was very uncomfortable with the idea of crucifying the Lord Jesus, to the point where he was trying to figure out a way, by communicating to Jesus, to stop it from happening.
And how did the Lord Jesus react? With silence…
I’m sure we have all been in a similar situation, when you are trying to help someone and they are not responding or appreciating our efforts. The feeling that follows is not nice, but let’s put our spiritual helmet on and think as to why the Lord Jesus ignored answering Pilate.
The Lord Jesus had a mission, which was to die for the salvation of human kind. This was His sole purpose of existence and He was fully aware of this before He met Pilate.
So Him being in Spirit could see that if He answered Pilate, He would be entertaining the idea of being released, which would have messed up His purpose for being on earth (the mission).
Now which being would wants to mess disrupt Jesus’ mission? Who would love the idea of Jesus not being crucified and resurrecting for the salvation of human kind? satan!
Dear reader, this is very spiritual and profound.
We all have a purpose here in earth, and at times friends, family, associates, colleagues & even strangers in high positions may come with there advice, suggestions or help to apparently ease our pain during our journey of faith, but we have to be in Spirit to notice whether or not that is help from God or the devil subtlety trying to stop us completing our mission.
