I was reading my bible this morning and came across some verses that I have read and I’m sure many Christians have read before, but today really stood out to me:

He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. Luke 22:41-44 NLT

This was moments before the Lord Jesus was to be taken away for trial & eventually crucified, He showed in this short passage that indeed He was like any other human being at that moment, when He had to take on Himself all our sins , He was afraid & alone.

He knew that the task set before Him was a very hard task, so much so that He asked God to take away the responsibility He had given Him.

BUT the main point I got from this passage was not the fact that He was afraid, not the fact that He disregarded His own feeling and well being to obey His father’s command or not even the fact that He was persistent in His prayer to God.

Its the fact that when He knelt down and made a sincere prayer! Then Angel of God came straight away to strengthen Him.

It’s natural for us to be afraid to face our problems, to want to give up & to avoid sacrifices. God know all too well

But if in that moment of hardship(usually just before the blessing come into our life) we kneel down and make a sincere prayer like the Lord Jesus to express our fears, worries, doubts etc.. God will send His Holy Angel to uplift & strengthen us.

Don’t accept to do the routine religious prayer, repeating the same words over & over, not really praying to God with intelligence & therefore not being sincere with Him.

I admire the fact that the Lord Jesus was sincere enough to admit that the sacrifice He was about to embark one was very tough.

It reminded me that no matter how firm in the faith or strong we may think we are, we can be afraid of doing what needs to be done e.g. giving offering, presenting financial sacrifices, applying for a job that already turned us down, achieving a life long dream.

Dear reader, the battle will never be easy, especially when it come to the battle for salvation and your biggest dreams but if we are sincere in praying to God & admit we need extra strength He will send His Holy Angel to uplift and strengthen us to make the last attack in the battle.

After this prayer the Lord went on and made His perfect sacrifice

The power of SINCERITY & PRAYER is beyond our comprehension. USE IT

That’s All For Now…
