1, 2, 3… A Disciple Yet Deceiving

“As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:30-35 NIV

1 – Judas left the presence of Jesus and the disciples to go and betray Jesus. Only after Judas left, Jesus spoke to His disciples about the new commandment He was giving.

2 – Jesus in earlier verses spoke bluntly & plainly to His disciple that one of them would betray Him & even indicated to John who it would be, Judas; yet the disciples didn’t all understand. Which leads me to realise that God reveals & confirms things to us that we need to know before hand to prepare us but the majority of the time, due to distractions & cognitive dissonance, we ignore His guidance.

More interestingly, Jesus only gave the new commandment to His 11 disciples after Judas left. This little detail can be easily ignored to most of us if we are not in spirit & focused to learn while reading the Word of God.

My question was, “why did He not reveal this new commandment while Judas was there? Then the Lord revealed it to me, He reminded me of what Myles Munroe taught me about Jesus & His nature of revealing/teaching things to people: Jesus doesn’t violate His Holiness or integrity by telling any person what they are not interested in knowing, especially when it is His truths & commands. This is one of the reason He spoke to the masses and religious people in parables.

Jesus also called the 11 disciples ‘My children’ once Judas left, what does that indicate in a person’s mind? Relation. Jesus consider Judas as a disciple but not a ‘child’ like the rest; you can be a disciple/student but still not have a close relationship with your master/teacher, which Judas proved was in fact the case through his betrayal.

Judas didn’t belong to God & His purpose but to satan & for his purpose, even after 3 1/2 years. Judas refused to REPENT, which in the original Greek is METANOEO & original Hebrew SHUB which means a radical change of the mind; repentance has very little to do with emotions & upholding holy rituals/traditions.

3 – (1) Sit down, get rid of all distractions or potential distractions, and THINK & REFLECT by taking into account all things you know about God, the world, your life & your dream life

(2) Make a serious, assertive & manageable decision to either seek a real relationship with God or seek a lifestyle the world has to offer.

(3) Look for a serious Mentor/Coach & environment that will support the decision you have made.

1, 2, 3… Jesus’ Humanness

“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.” John 12:27 NIV

1 – Jesus’ soul (mind, will & emotion conscious), the medium between His body (sense conscious) & Spirit (God conscious) started to experience discomfort. He is talking to Himself and actually gassing Himself up to fulfil His purpose of existence.

2 – Jesus’s soul started experiencing discomfort because earlier Jesus stated that the time had come for Him to face the hardest part of His mission: Be falsely tried, tortured & die an excruciating death for the sake of saving mankind’s eternal future.

Jesus, our Lord & Saviour, the One who we rightly idolise and revere, experienced the very human temporary experience of emotions/feelings of fear, worry and distress. Filled with the Holy Spirit, born of God, the 1st born of God, the saviour of mankind experienced feeling FEAR.

The most interesting thing for me is three things:

(1) He clearly didn’t hide or bottle up His feelings; which should be a lesson that we are not suppose to bottle up emotions/feeling but express them accordingly.

(2) He openly in front of His disciples, whom He was their Leader, showed displayed His emotions; which is evident by the fact that John the Beloved wrote it in his book.

Jesus once again proves by this that His way of relationship between Himself & His disciples is completely different from what the fallen world’s system way of relationship between Mentor & Mentee/Teacher & Student/Leader & Follower teaches. This is just another of one of many account in which Jesus proved that the secret to an effective relationship with your followers is AUTHENTICITY & VULNERABILITY with your humanness.

(3) He didn’t beat Himself up or dwell on fact that He felt these emotions but dealt with them by (1) acknowledging the emotions/feelings not ignoring them, (2) remembering His purpose & mission for being alive on earth, and (3) being responsible by psyching Himself up 1st and not waiting for someone to do it before & for Him.

3 – (1) Acknowledge my humanness of experiencing emotions/feeling that are not comfortable or annoying, by not beating myself up or getting annoyed at myself when I experience them.

(2) Deal with these emotions/feeling via self talk or expressing them in a control & healthy way.

(3) Take complete responsibility to psyche myself 1st & foremost; it should be daily but especially in moments of fear, worries, self doubt, discomfort etc…

“Deliverence is not Freedom.” Myles Munroe

Entry #1

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  John16:13 NIV

His 1st session was interesting. He explained that he was lost for words to effectively describe it all. Yesterday morning was a morning in which he didn’t feel like his usual self, and he didn’t know why exactly.

He did prepare himself mentally prior and because of that he was ready to not hold back. Crying is something that he has understood as important and natural to do, but it’s definitely hard for him to do and allow himself to do it without thinking that he’s being too soft, compassionate and feeling sorry for himself. He thinks and has this erroneous belief that if he allow himself to process and dwell on really letting out all the emotions, frustration and pain within, he is wasting time, falling behind and will potentially end up losing everything he’s worked hard for.

He finds it hard expressing and labelling all the emotions, feelings, thoughts, frustrations, hurts etc.. to God & people at times, for fear of being rejected, labelled, and perceived as weak, selfish, self centred & not reliable.

After the session, he felt tired.

The rest of the day he didn’t feel as engaged and on his toes as he normally did, you guess it, he felt guilty for feeling like that. He had to work from from home but he said that a part of him didn’t want to work, but he pushed through. He spoke to my wife later that evening, yet he said he didn’t really want to speak to her, even though he loves her and missed her during the day.

He think that this session made him realise how he has literally been running on SURVIVAL MODE for many years, and when for a moment he wants or needs to experience and process emotions, feelings, compassion towards himself, he automatically feels uncomfortable, because he has never been given the time, in his life, to do that while being convicted that he has the security of a Mother & Father figure to comfort him and who will always be there to be patient with me and not put pressure on me.

It must be even harder for him as he has the responsibility of running his own business which means most times he is living on the edge.

The next morning he said he felt better, his sleep was good but he still felt a bit less than his usual disciplined and focused self, and it worried him.

Is all this NORMAL Father God? I wasn’t taught this by the religious leaders.

21 Days of Focus: Day #1

While listening to the Bible, I was struck by the fact that the Cheif Priest’s in Jesus’ time actually LIED to Pilate about some of what Jesus said in public i.e. claiming He said it was lawful to not pay taxes to Ceasar.

But wait, these lots were supposed to be the priest of God, at that time, yet there they were lying. The God they claimed to be representing hates lies, yet to prove their beliefs and point, they resorted to lies regardless of God.

This lead me to the reality that I personally & others I know grew in our communion with God ONLY once there was a man of God in our life that we TRUSTED based on their character; not based off their title or position.

Titles means nothing, trust is what establishes true relationships & results.

After spending time reading & studying the book Understanding the Purpose and Power of Prayer by Myles Munroe, I made sure to practice praying based off what I had learnt.

I followed steps 1-3 and was actually happily surprised at the fact that when I did apply the process in the order given, especially step 2, God indeed revealed to me while applying step 2 a sin that was within me that I didn’t confess because I didn’t see it as a sin, yet because I had spent time reading the book I was able to humble myself & acknowledge it as a sin & confess.

Afterward I felt so grateful and relieved, which confirmed indeed that God had cleanse me & forgiven me. I then proceeded to make my request and finish my prayer with assurance that God had already answered my prayer due to the fact that it was based upon His will.

It’s good to be sharing my new knowledge, understanding and wisdom with y’all again.

Subtle But Evil

and went again into the Praetorium, and said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You? John 19:9-10 NKJV

Here we see a normal human beings reaction & behaviour. Pilate was very uncomfortable with the idea of crucifying the Lord Jesus, to the point where he was trying to figure out a way, by communicating to Jesus, to stop it from happening.

And how did the Lord Jesus react? With silence…

I’m sure we have all been in a similar situation, when you are trying to help someone and they are not responding or appreciating our efforts. The feeling that follows is not nice, but let’s put our spiritual helmet on and think as to why the Lord Jesus ignored answering Pilate.

The Lord Jesus had a mission, which was to die for the salvation of human kind. This was His sole purpose of existence and He was fully aware of this before He met Pilate.

So Him being in Spirit could see that if He answered Pilate, He would be entertaining the idea of being released, which would have messed up His purpose for being on earth (the mission).

Now which being would wants to mess disrupt Jesus’ mission? Who would love the idea of Jesus not being crucified and resurrecting for the salvation of human kind? satan!

Dear reader, this is very spiritual and profound.

We all have a purpose here in earth, and at times friends, family, associates, colleagues & even strangers in high positions may come with there advice, suggestions or help to apparently ease our pain during our journey of faith, but we have to be in Spirit to notice whether or not that is help from God or the devil subtlety trying to stop us completing our mission.

1, 2, 3… Born For One Purpose

Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice. John 18:37 NKJV

One – Jesus explains that He was born for one purpose & those who accept this purpose would listen to him.

Two – He was born to testify of the Truth, the Way & Word of God, simple. Only those who seek to know the truth about creation & life would accept His Words. A Christian, someone who has the Holy Spirit, understands that this is our sole purpose of still being here on earth also.

Three – Daily testify about Jesus & Heaven via evangalism & being an example of living by faith in the word of God.

Judge by faith & not by sight

Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment. John 7:24 NKJV

How many times have we heard this popular saying, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover!”?

Yet all of us, including mature Christian, forget this at times. We live in the physical world, so it’s only natural that we live by what we see.

But for those who consider themselves SPIRITUAL, we have to always live by faith & not sight. Only if you are close to God will you remember this important principle.

The Jews in the past were so far from God, even though they were going to the synagogue/temple, apparently rooted in the Word of God & held positions of authority.

Besides Jesus Himself telling them that their behaviour was not of God, their actions in regards to not believing in Him and His works because of something as insignificant as where Jesus physically came from, showed that these people were not living by faith.

How embarrassing & confusing right? That they didn’t even know the principle of living by faith; being Jews, God’s chosen people, descendants of Abraham, the father of FAITH.

Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee?

Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”

They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee. John 7:41, 47-49, 52 NKJV

Let’s judge by works & not by sight alone!

1, 2, 3… How To Be Born Of God

“Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 MEV

One – The Lord Jesus here is responding to a Pharisee statement about Him. He is making known to him, the vital importance of being born again.

Two – To be born again is to become a new version of yourself. This is related to the acts of repentance & converting to the Ways of God. A person who’s not born of God cannot see/understand the Ways of God.

Three – Repent of your sins & sinful ways; seek the strength of God via prayer, daily meditations on your Bible & above all take actions based upon His Words. The miracle of being Born again first starts with you taking the actions to convert & persist in these actions; God will do the rest that is out of your hands, baptizing you with His Helper, the Holy Spirit.
