Shhhhhh! The Beauty Of Silence

Point-Education-0Every day, cities large and small, experience the noise of busyness and growth. Add to that a growing lack of respect among the population.

Peace and quiet has become a rarity. All around us people are in a rush, multiple conversations going on at the same time, cars honking, loud music, the constant chatter on phones. Certain activities lose their pleasure when they clash with their surroundings.

How can you listen to an orchestra and marvel at the the sounds of each instrument, with so many other things going on around you? Unless you’re able to absorb each word in a book, how can you learn anything while stuffed into a crowded library cubicle?

How can you go to a museum and enjoy the rare works of art, made with exquisite skill and talent, when you’re not left in silence. Could you understand a complex subject being taught in a room filled with unruly students?

If “silence is golden” for the things of the world, how much more for the things of the Spirit?

Because He wanted us to take full advantage of His instructions, the Lord Almighty once said:

O Israel, be quiet and listen! Deuteronomy 27:9 NLT

He doesn’t speak when we are speaking. He speaks when we are silent and eager to hear His voice. A small detail in the construction of the Temple of Solomon in the past teaches us a fundamental lesson for today:

And the temple, when it was being built, was built with stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built. 1 Kings 6:7 NKJV

temple-4Time was taken to shape heavy blocks of stone at the quarry, so that when they were brought to the construction site, workers could simply slide them into place. The same process was used for metal and wood in the construction. Everything was organized so that close to 180,000 men worked for 7 years in silence and reverence.

If such care was taken during the construction, imagine what it must have been like on the day of the Temple’s grand opening. Imagine those who had the privilege of being present, even if it was in the outer courts!

Many people attend church, but don’t receive great things from God because they don’t show respect for what is holy.

Before meetings they talk and laugh about things that distance them from anything spiritual. It’s rare to find people who intentionally arrive early in order to pray. The noise of “rocks smashing together” is heard in so many churches — it’s become a common, acceptable practice.

shhhh3Silence communicates a fear of God and an appreciation for Him, as it is written:

It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:26 NKJV

Prayer and spiritual understanding do not mix with frivolous talk and noise, which may surprise some. If this was not true, God would not have led His servants into desert — Abraham, Moses, Elijah, John the Baptist, and the Lord Jesus.

In the silence of the desert, God’s voice did not have to compete with anything else; it was loud and clear.

Today we are living stones in God’s Temple (1 Peter 2:5), and if we obey His instructions we will be a perfect fit for His plans. May reverence be a part of our daily spiritual sacrifice. God Bless You.

Restricted By Affection

Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains.

You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.  2 Corinthians 6:12 NKJV

Affections means feelings, or holding on to someone or something, and because of this they were limited.

A sign of faith is the readiness to let go of things and people. Everything can be measured: a country, its economy, its population, the largest star in the universe, the earth itself, everything but the blessing of God.

If God could be measured, He would not be able to promise blessings without measure.

The Creator of all things made each thing a certain size, no matter how big. A person’s physical size can be measured, but if he has supernatural faith within, he is unlimited.

Faith is God Himself within us, that’s why the Lord Jesus said:  I am with you always, to the end of the age.  Matthew 28:20 NKJV

Faith is always with us.

Obviously, there are days that faith is at a high, and others that it is low, but the important thing is that it is there, and if it is used, even if it at a low that day, we will explode in blessings!

REMEMBER: Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains.

May God inspire you & strengthen to go after your dreams!

Sin No More!

Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you. John 5.14 NKJV

Jesus said this to a lame man He healed from an illness that lasted for 38 years. What could be worse than spending 38 years of your life crawling around, literally? Bear in mind that at that time there were no wheelchairs or motorized devices for disabled persons like we have today.

This thought of Jesus reveals two important things to us:

1. Sinning makes bad things happen to us. To sin means to miss the target. Every time you miss the target, you waste time and energy; you miss opportunities and may even cause problems for you and for others. Behind every sorrow, there is a mistake you or someone else made. And God has nothing to do with it.

2. Worse than making a mistake is making it twice. We all make mistakes, but some people decide to use common sense and stop making them. To continue doing what only makes you and others suffer is stupidity. You may have made a lot of mistakes up until now, but you can decide to be different from now on. It is your right and your decision.

Now, going back to the question, what could be worse than spending 38 years of your life crawling around? Jesus was referring to a life of mistakes that would culminate in a person missing the main target: eternal life.

A lifetime of suffering here on earth is nothing compared to eternal suffering for those who will miss the biggest target of all.

Application: Stop making mistakes. Learn from them and decide to do things differently. Ask for God’s help if it’s difficult to change.

Do you use the phrase “nobody is perfect” as an excuse for you to continue making mistakes? Have you ever wondered how much pain your mistakes have caused yourself and others? Are you sure you will hit the target of eternal life if you die today?

What Is Sin?

Someone asked me recently, “Is it a sin to divorce my husband?”

I sensed that her main concern was whether God would be angry with her if she did that. I think that’s the wrong way of understanding ‘sin’.

People often, mistakenly, associate sin with religion and God’s wrath and denying yourself some pleasure. Sin, put simply, is anything you do that hurts yourself, others, or God. In other words, to commit sin is to make a mistake.

In the Bible, the word ‘sin’ comes from the same root word in Hebrew that is used to express the verb ‘to miss the target’. If you think about that for a moment, it will completely change your concept of sin. You’ll understand that every time you sin, you’re missing a target.

So, in the above example, what if that lady rephrased her question and asked instead:

“Will I miss the target if I divorce my husband?” Asking the question this way would immediately force her to ask herself, “What is my target?; What am I trying to accomplish?”

She’d then realize that the target in a marriage is not a divorce. Rather, it’s to find happiness and purpose in sharing your life with someone else. So that lady’s target, in fact, was to solve her marriage problems and regain the happiness and purpose they had when they first got married.

But she mistakenly thought of divorce as a way out of her marriage problems. If she did that, she might have solved one set of problems but immediately run into another one — being alone, disputes over the custody of her children, a financial mess, scarring the children for life, etc. In other words, she’d have missed the target BIG TIME.

Never again think of sin as a burden God has put upon you just to kill your joy and freedom. Remember that when you sin, or miss the target, you are the first victim. Yes, God may be sad you did it, others may also get hurt, but you’re the one who’ll pay the highest price. Nobody else.

Be smart. Be Intelligent. Hit your targets.

Created To Administer

Those who are in the position of administrator, and take something that is not theirs, will no longer be reliable. We have the Garden of Eden and the tree with the forbidden fruit as an example of this.

Why is a sacrifice required nowadays in order for man to take possession of the promises of God?

Because, for a man to be an administrator, he has to fight to conquer, he has to prove his worth and ability, he has to “negotiate”. This is why a sacrifice is necessary.

Authority is given to man according to his achievements through sacrifice, which is the “price” he must pay.

For each achievement, there is a sacrifice.

Why does God help, dress, protect and teach the birds and all the animals in the wild?

Because they were not created to administer. Though they were not in the Garden of Eden and did not sin, they did not lose certain rights because God is Just.

Man has to eat from the sweat of his brow, from sacrifice. This is the only way for him to conquer the authority he lost.

It is no coincidence that the great men and women of the Bible, who were successful and conquered, are well known until today. They had to sacrifice several times, but every sacrifice brought them a victory.

We cannot sit around waiting for God to prepare the table for us, to dress us, give us a home, job, wealth, etc. What we must do is be faithful and through prayer, ask for guidance and ideas. Then, He will show us how we should do things and which sacrifice to present.

This is the reason for the Israel Challenge. It is an answer to our prayers. Through it, God sends the prophecy and shows which sacrifice we should present.

God did not create us to be useless like parasites; instead, He created us to be conquerors. This is the only way for us to bring down the walls and glorify our Lord.ln

A Covenant

To have a better understanding of this matter, just take a look at a set of wedding bands being held by a groom, as he stands at the altar about to get married. What does this symbolize? He is about to sacrifice his single life to embark on a new journey of total surrender because of the love he has for his bride. It is not just a love of words, but of actions that prove and show the mutual love they have for one another. A journey of loyalty in good times and bad; the two will cling to one another more than ever to overcome the challenges that life brings them.

The act of entering into a marriage requires a person to give their all. How could a couple live happily and in full communion with one another if one spouse is unfaithful? If there is no sacrifice and total surrender for one another, their marriage will not withstand!

The word covenant appears three hundred and twenty-eight times in the Bible, and this suggests its exceptional importance for us to delve deeper into this subject and understand the conditions required to have a covenant with God.

A covenant is, according to the Bible, a pact, agreement or contract between two or more people who have assigned duties and obligations between the parties involved. A covenant with God follows the example of a marriage, not like nowadays where people easily get married and unmarried, but in an agreement where loyalty prevails until death. It is a clear demonstration of true Sacrifice.

The same way a couple begins to build a life together after their marriage is sealed, God also wants to find people to make a pact with them and manifest His existence with Authority in this dark and cruel world.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him… 2 Chronicles 16.9 NKJV

God established rules in the building of His Kingdom, and this requires the cooperation of man. He would not be able to establish His Kingdom here on Earth without the participation of man; God is Spirit and He wants to manifest Himself in our lives to show His Greatness through us!

God will not invade anyone’s life, much less force man to live for Him. However, those who turn to the Lord, and surrender completely to Him, like a living sacrifice, just like a bride surrenders completely to a groom on their wedding day, God, in the person of the Holy Spirit, will fill that person’s being with His Spirit and make him His dwelling.

The Outcry Of GOD

Those who live in sin are laying in a grave and don’t even know it.

Spiritually and literally dead.

The faith or religion they profess does not matter, if they are a slave to sin, they are already dead.

This explains why there is so much unhappiness in the world.

The spirit of sin holds them hostage to their own blindness, pride and vanity.

Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling. Psalm 49.14 NKJV

But, the outcry of God continues to echo throughout the four corners of the earth:

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. Ezekiel 37.13 NKJV

He opens the grave of those who listen to and obey His Voice, His Command, His Word…

Then, they will know that He is the Lord.
